About Me

This is my online rag. Writing is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, for good or bad. A personal and public forum of sorts. But as one item on this list should be a consideration of the audience intended, this is not all about me.

Timidity and temerity and the finding of warts: I may just pull that wart out by the roots. Till it screams and cries. If I choose...

Mission Statement:

I intend to portray the glass as half full; at the very least, it should be half way, and not half empty. Write me if you think otherwise.

Why We Write

I ran across the following article, and have included the link(ArticleCity.com) as a kind of affirmation of why I, or any of us for that matter, write. A getting it off your chest kind of a thing. The author, Michael LaRocca puts forth an essay into why he (or any writer, for that matter) publishes. But I think the meat of what he says, is in why he writes. Although all writers are islands unto themselves, his story strikes a chord. I’ve never been published. May never be. And I’m not too preoccupied about it, because I can throw down a few words on paper any time I get up the gall.

People write to get what’s in ‘em – out of ‘em. Perhaps there is a Lascaux gene in us somewhere, crying, “Paint me on that wall, paint me!” A sense of dealing with the big unknown, and brushing it on paper with words. Showing your fellow cave-dwellers that there is a meaning to it all: a visualizing of order which is plucked out of the chameleon-like disarray of thoughts. On paper, it’s there for you to see – at least until you crumple it up or, by turns, decide to keep it.
